- Location is key. To be near your current home and friends? Near your family?
It’s time to fully understand what you have and what you can afford. Beyond annual income, your savings and investments, real estate (minus any mortgage, home equity loan or taxes) and, if applicable, the cash flow from long-term care insurance. Keep in mind that Medicare covers only a small percentage of home care or skilled nursing. If you qualify, Medicaid may be available to help.
