Fall Message From The Executive Director

The summer flew by and we enter autumn with much to be proud of. Welcome new team members dedicated to Green Hill as the premier senior continuum of care community in our region, with innovative and effective person directed care programs. We have earned top honors for plant operations, especially in the area of unique architecture and cleanliness. Also, our monthly Superfoods cooking has met with outstanding success.

Green Hill also is contributing beyond our campus to innovative thought leadership in aging services. We recently participated in an important assessment on dementia care in assisted living communities with the University of North Carolina researchers. We are leading our first LGBT Aging and Continuum of Care Roundtable in partnership with Garden State Equality and SAGEUsa to discuss the daunting issues facing LGBTQIAA elders and how we can meet the needs of this growing community.

With the holidays approaching now is a good time to be proactive on senior hunger as food insecurity for elders has risen despite the economic recovery. Remember to donate to your local food bank or drop off a food basket to a senior citizen center. Invite a senior to your home for a holiday meal, to a concert or out shopping. A gift of your time is the greatest gift of all to a senior who may feel especially isolated during the holidays.

During this holiday season, with your elders near, it is a good time to assess any aging changes you may see and to discuss their future plans. Visit www.green-hill.com/news to read more on how to start the conversation with your loved ones.

Enjoy autumn and the upcoming holidays!
